Planning A Surprise Birthday Party
Saturday, February 18th, 2012All her life, my mother worked very hard to feed all her children and finance their education. Since my father died 20 years ago, it has been my mother who took control of our family business. My mother bore my father 3 sons and a daughter, and I was that daughter. I was never really close to my mother back then, but when my father died, I saw her pain and comforted her, gradually becoming close to her.
My mother’s hard work allowed all 4 of us to graduate from college. Our eldest was a lawyer and I am now a licensed doctor. My 2 other brothers were already seafarers, going onboard every 8-10 months and coming home again for 2 months.
My mother will be celebrating her 62nd birthday in 3 days. We planned out a surprise birthday party to make her feel loved. My mother loved singing, even at her old age so her party should have a karaoke DJ. We searched for a karaoke DJ hire online and got somebody to operate the karaoke all throughout the event. We also hired a caterer for the food and since that caterer was also my mom’s younger sister, we got a huge discount off the usual price.
The children were also going to have a special number for my mother. They decided to entertain her with a dance so we hired a choreographer to train them with the dance steps. On the other hand, I, together with my brothers, were going to perform a special song for her. That song was my mother and father’s theme song when they were still young sweethearts.
It is now the big day. Mother did not know about the surprise party we were preparing. We had her stay in the province for 2 days while we were busily decorating our house. When she finally came back for her party, we unbound the cover from her eyes and she was shocked to see the number of people who attended. And as my brother guided her to her seat, she had tears of joy in her eyes.
